As the project lead of Educators’ Neighborhood, Melissa Butler collaborates to highlight the work of educators and grow opportunities for educators (and the wider community) to learn from the ideas and practices of Fred Rogers, with particular attention to the archive of Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood episodes. She facilitates communities of practice, documents learning, designs community sharing events, and regularly contributes to the Fred Rogers Center blog. In addition to her work with the Center, she is founder of reimagining project and directs Children’s Innovation Project. Melissa holds a B.S.Ed. in Elementary Education/Sociology from Loyola of Chicago, an M.Ed. in Curriculum/Critical Race Theory from Penn State University, and an M.A. in Creative Writing/Poetry from University of Cape Town. She is National Board Certified as an Early Childhood Generalist.
