Center on Media and Child Health
The Center on Media and Child Health at Harvard University and Medical School is devoted to the research of electronic media’s impact on childhood wellness. Their website features a multitude of resources for early childhood educators and researchers, including model lesson plans, topical breakdowns of current media research, and a searchable online database of CMCH publications.
Children Now
Children Now advocates for the rights and interests of children in the political and policy-making arena. Their website contains current publications and reports by the organization, research and information on children’s health and education issues, and strategies for activism and involvement in the Children's Movement.
Children's Digital Media Center
The Children’s Digital Media Center represents a consortium of academics, researchers, and policy-makers from five universities dedicated to studying the effects of digital media on childhood development. The Center website features profiles of members and current research, links to Center publications, and details on upcoming projects. The Recent Publications page notably includes .pdf links to full-length articles published by CDMC members.
Early Childhood Music and Movement Association
The website collects a series of research related newsletters about music and childhood development in a mission to unite music and early childhood professionals for the benefit of children.
Henry Jenkins’ Blog on Children’s Culture
Henry Jenkins is the Director of the Comparative Media Studies Program and Professor of Literature at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. His website contains a section on children’s culture which contextualizes major research in twentieth century play and games. Dr. Jenkins has many robust sections of his website, including comparative media studies, genres of entertainment, and democracy and media.
Kairos: A Journal of Rhetoric, Technology, and Pedagogy
This online, peer-reviewed, premiere journal specializes in digital and multimodal composing practices, promoting work that enacts its scholarly argument through rhetorical and innovative uses of new media, including articles and discussions on media literacies.
Music Together: Research and Development
Music Together is an internationally recognized early childhood music program for babies, toddlers, preschoolers, kindergarteners, and the adults who love them. First offered to the public in 1987, it pioneered the concept of a research-based, developmentally appropriate early childhood music curriculum that strongly emphasizes and facilitates adult involvement. They also offer classes. Their Articles Archive may be of particular interest.
PBS – The Importance of Play Resources
The collection of research centers, institutes, and organizations are variously addressed to scholars and families. The PBS list of resources includes the Alliance for Childhood, Children and Nature Network, Children’s Environmental Research Group (CERG), Natural Learning, and Wild Zones, among other important websites.

This website provides games and videos for children, along with instructions for parents about how to talk with their children about PBS content.

This website has puppet patterns and ideas about how puppets are used with communication and problem solving.
Puppetry Homepage
Here you will find definitions of different types of puppets, construction directions, and puppetry types from around the world. Also including is an extensive bibliography of books about puppetry.
Radical Pedagogy
This online, peer-reviewed journal is affiliated with the International Consortium for Alternative Academic Publication (ICAAP). The journal is international in scope and is devoted to the examination of the evolving state of teaching and learning in contemporary academia.
Research Connections: Child Care and Early Education
This comprehensive and unbiased collection includes scholarly research, policy briefs, government reports, data, and instruments from a wide range of disciplines and sources, including multiple federal agencies. Research Connections compiles and distributes bibliographies, develops issue briefs, and synthesizes research on key topics. Also, this website provides Faculty Teaching Modules.
The Journal of Pedagogy, Pluralism, & Practice
This online, peer-reviewed journal out of Lesley University, Cambridge, Massachusetts, provides an interdisciplinary interpretation and analysis of educational theory and practice. Their diverse articles include “Symbols of Hope and Healing: Using Art With Families and Children” by Joan Drescher with Liz Innis.
