Description

From the website: The Society for Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrics was founded in 1982 to improve the health care of infants, children, and adolescents by promoting research and teaching in developmental and behavioral pediatrics. The goals of the Society are: to encourage research in developmental and behavioral pediatrics, with emphasis on psychosocial issues arising in the context of health care; to promote education in developmental and behavioral pediatrics; to raise questions and respond to issues that affect research, teaching, or program development in developmental and behavioral pediatrics; and to promote an understanding of and particular interest in the social, educational, and cultural influences on children. The Society is currently working on such issues as obtaining subspecialty certification in developmental-behavioral pediatrics, formulating curriculum guidelines for residents and fellows, and exploring the factors affecting the practice of developmental-behavioral pediatrics in a managed care environment.
