From the website: Dr. Pecora (Ph. D., University of Illinois Institute of Communications Research, 1989) is associate professor in the School of Telecommunications at Ohio University. Dr. Pecora’s research interests focus on issues of gender and children and media, especially the political economy of the children’s television industry. Dr. Pecora was associate director of the Survey Research Center at the University of Maryland and the coordinator of the Women’s Resource Center at Governors State University and was previously on the faculty at Emerson College in Boston and the University of Maryland. Her publications include: The Business of Children’s Entertainment (NY: Guilford Press, 1998); Growing Up Girls: Popular Culture and the Construction of Identity with Sharon R. Mazzarella (Peter Lang, 2002); Children and Television: Fifty Years of Research with John P. Murray and Ellen A. Wartella (Lawrence Erlbaum Publishing 2007). She has also written numerous book chapters and journal articles and was co-editor, with Sharon R. Mazzarella, of the journal Popular Communication.
