From the website: The International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) provides leadership and service to improve teaching and learning by advancing the effective use of technology in education. ISTE is the trusted global leader in building capacity and disseminating best practices for appropriate and ubiquitous use of technology for all learners in a dynamic international learning environment…. In Spring 2004, ISTE identified the following strategic goals for achieving its mission: 1. Build organizational leadership and capacity through renewal and growth of diverse membership and through community building among members and stakeholders. 2. Articulate a compelling rationale and advocate for the effective use of technology in support of teaching, learning, and educational leadership. 3. Advance the art and science of teaching, learning, and educational leadership with and about technology through research, development, and other capacity-enhancing activities. 4. Disseminate resources, knowledge, expertise, and effective professional practice through communication and distribution strategies that best meet the needs of ISTE members and other educational stakeholders. 5. Develop and sustain a vibrant, responsive, highly effective and self-renewing organization optimized to ensure the responsible achievement of ISTE’s mission and its mission-aligned strategic goals.
