From the website: Professor Wilson’s research focuses on children’s responses to the media, particularly fear responses and responses to televised violence. For example, her work has examined how children’s emotional responses to media are related to cognitive and emotional development. Recent projects have focused on children’s reactions to television news and children’s attraction to different types of media characters. She was a co-investigator in the National Television Violence study, in which she examined different types of violence and different contexts in which violent acts are presented. She has also worked with industry to explore the policy implications of the National Television Violence study findings.
